Aaaahhh yes, i've been neglecting my poor little bloggie site again. what does one do when you're swamped with worked & flying to and fro across the pacific ocean in fortnightly spasms. not to mention the constant lure of my comfy bed and the other many what nots when i actually manage to drag my feet home.
so here i am sitting at my cousin's office in jakarta looking through old posts & realising how lacking i've been in the creative mojo department. Gotta find some time to create something soon, my hands and overflowing creative mind needs an outlet!

quick share of a card I made with the Silhouette shapes & some left over vinyl. Sponging on the edges are a must to add a depth to the cake. Love those tiny candles i got waayyyy back. Adds a nice touch, methinks.

Had a good getaway in Hongkong the past week with Casey. It was kinda nightmarish at first because he wanted to walk everywhere to 'take in the sights' & anyone who knows me knows that i'd much rather take a cab and take in the sights that way. Although I had aching feet at the end of every day (trust me, i made sure he heard me complaining), i realised that he's grown on me in so many ways. He is his own person in his own right & so am I. As long as we learn to respect that (a gd e.g. would be me not forcing him to take photos which he hates) we get along perfectly.

All in all, a good trip!

helloooo how's ur weekend going?? i'm spending it right where i want to, at home! :)) just baked some cupcakes topped with some buttercream frosting (tough to get the frosting right). anyone has an easy & yummy cupcake frosting to share?
here's a card i made using papertreyink's 'background basics:text style' & a sentiment from dawn mcvey's pti 'damask design'. Love the font she uses in that set. the text is stamped with a few different colours all the way up to about 3/4 of the front piece of white cardstock & then added a melon berry satin ribbon + glitter lace (from Daiso). Also added some prisma glitter using Scor-tape (papertreyink sells them), if u don't have scor-tape u have to get it. Wonderfully strong adhesive for boxes, adding strips of glitter!

Last but not least, a pretty flower from Prisma.The sentiment could be swapped for a wedding themed card, don't u think?

Totally loving the new turquoise-ish colour from the folks over @ papertreyink. Needed a card for a friend's housewarming & decided that the 'Hawaiian shores' paper would go lovely with some 'Rapberry fizz', from PTI as well. Used my new Heroarts 'Row of Houses' stamp (which I won from last month Heroarts blog challenge), stamped 2 rows with some grey ink & made it look 'occupied' with some copic markers, white gel pen & some bling.
Sentiment is from Heroarts 'essential messages' & the brad is from Making memories.

Quick, simple & most importantly...me likey!!
Have a nice mid-week, folks. It's been unbearably humid here these few days, wishing for more rain...or ice cream :)

In lieu of Scrapbooking week, i have another layout to share! :) Some leftover Xmas photos that were lying around (in the odds & ends stash of photos that almost never get scrapped) The best thing to do with them? Use them all! I find that if you cut them into the same size & put them together u maximise 'em! Feels so good to use up your stash (of anything! oh well, except perhaps some of those fabric 'dear lizzy' papers that i am sure looks better untouched, hee.)
Anyways, the photos here are trimmed to 3" by 3" and arranged unto a grid which is then matted. Also used some Christmas stamps here from Making Memories as well as some christmas tree epoxy stickers from an older Creative Imaginations packet. Background patterned paper is from Luxe (basics collection, huge love !!)

The top & bottom piece of red patterned paper (you make me happy) is from an old Cosmo cricket 8"x8" paper pad (not sure which collection) & I'm so loving the Tim Holtz ornate plate which I used to frame a stamped '2009' below.

Crabby Fun!

Got round to scrapping some photos from my Japan trip, here's one I did of me & my mum having a great time dining on Crabs :) I used my Silhouette SD machine to cut out the frame for the photos , then layered it on a piece of letter sized kraft cardstock. Patterned paper is from K&Co as well as Imaginisce. For the elongated vertical space on the right I decided to use some yummy adhesive backed printed canvas from an old EK success collection. Also added the title and some cute little crabs cut out using a cuttlebug die set.

My mum has this layout on her desk, a great way to remember those fun memories :)

Wish upon a Star

Broke out my hardly used Papertreyink's 'Star Prints' for this card...arranged most of the star images from the stamp set unto a big acrylic block, inked it up with Papertreyink's 'snow white' pigment ink & stamped repeatedly onto a piece of chocolate cardstock. Another Quick & easy way to utilise your stamps; by making a background :) The accent piece (in kraft) is stamped with PTI's 'polka dot basics 2' in choc ink then trimmed with a pair of pinking shears, i also machine stitched on a vellum pc unto it & adhered some buttons & stamped a sentiment.

The whole accent piece is then mounted on some large width-ed wire ribbon and attached to the top of the card. The whole card is then sponged on the edges with more 'snow white' pigment ink. A bit bulky to send in the mail, but a lovely addition to a pressie if you're giving it away by hand :)

chipboard bday

Quick & simple card, was spring cleaning the other day (not completed to this day! lol) and came upon these pretty old chipboard letters which i've never used! So just grabbed an orange cardstock & stamped the whole background with papertreyink's 'background basics: retro' then stuck on the chipboard alphas to spell 'birthday'. Curved a 'happy' sentiment & stamped it above the alphas, punched out a star (added a bling button atop) and voila! Couldn't get more simple than this, really...
Been trying to curb my scrap spending lately so been trying to use up my stash! You could be surprised what you can find lol :)

Back from Malaysia last night, couldn't believe how much I miss my bed (and the boy in it!) :) Anyways, I got home to some new Heroarts goodies that I won a couple of weeks back & also tons of Papertreyink!! Aaaahhh...the smell of fresh stamps...looking fwd to tons of playtime. Meanwhile on the other side of town...here's a card I made with a vinyl butterfly cut out using the Silhouette machine & some Heroarts stamps.. The background is done with some Timholtz distress ink spritzed with some water then stamped onto the paper using Heroarts ' Antique flower background' to create a soft watercolour effect.

Border is punched using Fiskar's 'threading water' & sentiment is from heroarts as well..

The background of the butterfly is some sticky backed canvas which i tapped with some versamark & heat embossed using UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel), then sponged with more distress ink...

Hi peeps! Here's a card I made with my new fave polka dot embossing folder from Quickutz...it has bigger dots than the swiss dots embossing folder from cuttlebug & I love them both! The sentiment is from Heroart's 'everyday sayings' stamp set. Another one of my faves :)The butterfly image is from this new Heroarts stamp set, which I finally decided to get because I just couldn't resist!! The image is stamped with dark brown Stazon ink onto some Claudine Hellmusth sticky-back canvas, cut out with a sharp pair of fabric scissors & then sponged on some Tim Holtz 'fired brick' & 'spiced marmalade' distress inks. The butterfly is then glimmer misted with 'silver bells'...Love the effect!

The canvas butterfly is mounted on 2 circles (punched out with 1.5" & 1.75"). The smaller vanilla circle has Papertreyink's 'background basic:text style' stamped on it with Tim holtz 'old paper' distress ink.

I can't for the sake of myself recall where i got those lovely brads! But I think look nice as sofa pillows, don't u think? :)

Flutterby Wedding..

What with the flurry of weddings coming up in my extended family, I thought it was about time to make some wedding themed cards...not the traditional type but ones on the colourful side :) Have not been feeling too fab of late, down with a bad throat + an annoying fever that comes & goes...the doc stuck me with some antibiotics & I'm being a good girl by staying put @ home getting some rest...For me being home = more crafting , yeay! The background is stamped using Heroart's 'antique flower background' using Tsukineko's kaleidacolor 'Berry Blaze' rainbow dye inkpad. Love that inkpad! You could use it with a brayer to create a really nice background too..The butterfly is cut out from Papertreyink's 'Raspberry fizz' cardstock & black cs using a Quickutz Butterfly die.
Stamps are from Little yellow bicycle & the ribbon is from Papertreyink as well...

These My Cute Stamps are just what they are...CUTE!! i couldn't resist making a card with the adorable dino & the speech bubble with the heart. Kinda looks like the little guy's letting his love known with a *burp* lol. Images are coloured in with Copic Markers.. The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug 'Tiny Bubbles' embossing folder & the patterned paper is from My mind's eye 'be loved' collection. Love that collection too!

3D with the Silhouette

More Silhouette love today :) Loved this 3D posy flower download when i laid my eyes on it, gotta have it!! Cut it out EASILY with the Silhouette SD machine & sponged the edges with some Tim Holtz 'Old Paper' Distress ink. Not too sure where the blue cardstock came from (blame it on stashing too much products!) , the background stamp i used on it is from Papertreyink 's background basics: retro set. The patterned paper is PTI's Bitty Dots basic & sentiment stamp is from my beloved Heroarts 'thinking of you' stamp set.

Just finished a glass etching + vinyl art combo on my mirror...photos soon!
And a quick tip for when your Silhouette cutting mat loses its stickiness, u can stretch its usage! Here's what you do:

1. Clean the mat with water & a little soap (use a soft brush to get rid of little remaining pieces that maybe stuck on the mat)
2. Air dry or if you're impatient like me use a cloth that doesn't have the fuzzies coming off (if u get what i mean :) )
3. Use a Jumbo sized Zig 2 way-glue pen & go over the surface of the mat
4. THIS part u have to air-dry in order for the mat to have a repositionable sticky surface.
5. Voila!! u have a good as new cutting mat!

ps: i've used this technique about 4-5 times on my mat now & am still using my first mat. Have yet to break out the 2 news spare ones as yet...go figure.

Some Birthday Love....

Happy Birthday to Moi :) It's been sweet so far..my guy made a scrumptious breakfast for me this morning and even arranged it nicely...he's a sweet one. :) Also had a little birthday love from Heroarts last night when i saw that I was one of the winners picked for their spring challenge. I took quite some time off the last 6 months or so and didn't submit any cards for calls or challenges etc so it's good to know I can still make cards that people like.But first here's the winning card: Lots of stamping, inking & heat embossing on this one. Had tons of fun! Cut the branch using my Silhouette SD with white cardstock then sponged it with some distress inks.

The background is also stamped, then sponged, then heat embossed & sponged again. Prolonged exposure to stamps, inks & paper + tons of lovely tools will provide bouts of happy delirousness!! The butterflies are punched out with some Martha Stewart punches and the patterned paper used is from pebbles. Used up the remaining scrap from my birthday invites here.

Prima love..

Prima flowers take my breath away...i must point out honestly that i'm not a 'flower' person, meaning i like fresh flowers on my table but put fake flower embellishments in front of me & i wouldn't know nuts what to do with them. Totally envious of peeps who can execute layouts & cards with tons of flowers beautifully...:) So what i'm not good at i do least of. Just a really simple card with ONE gorgeous prima layered flower as the focal point. I masked off the sides of the card with some printer paper & stamped a distressed grid (from Unity stamp co.) using Papertreyink's 'Snow fresh' ink. Really good white pigment ink that one. Some white stitching with my fave white uniball pen , stick on some basic grey 'white' microchip alphas + a small sentiment and done. Feels good when u do something simple & clean. I think the key is to know when you have to stop adding things to your project; which is seriously tough!

It's my birthday tomorrow & i'm in self denial of turning another year older. Like 'i just want to switch my phone off & hole myself up alone at home' kind of denial. Not much success to that so far....

Anyways I thought it was really sweet that friends sent me birthday wishes on facebook & i find it only polite to acknowledge them all by posting a thank you reply note (via facebook again of course). Looking forward to a day of doing nothing tomorrow with my guy (utter bliss!) & my tea party on saturday :)

Crazy Moments

Sometimes I like to do self-reflective layouts (during those occassional moody moments). Here's one I did sometime ago...used some lovely Basic Grey goodies on this. Love those heidi swapp 'invisible stickers', great to ink them according to your colour scheme. The alpha ones i used has dots on them, yum! 'Moments' sentiment from a creative cafe stamp set. I used some vellum from PTI (really good stuff) under the title so soften the busy background paper.here's a closer look:

I also cut out a rectangular window, revealing the base kraft cardstock layer for my journalling. The notebook lines stamp is from Papertreyink's 'Journalling lines' stamp set. Makes it SO easy.

Also did some machine stitching at the bottom of the page + some adhesive-backed pearls.

Kitchen Vinyl love

Had this vinyl piece up on my kitchen wall yesterday morning, can't help sighing happily everytime i walk past it :) The designs are all from the Silhouette online store & that gorgeous butterfly (a heroarts design) is cut out twice from 2 different coloured vinyl & layered.

1. cut out the butterfly with the inside detail on brown vinyl
2. then click on the image again to 'ungroup'
3. delete the inside design of the butterfly, leaving only the outside shape
4. cut on red vinyl & you're ready to go!

Nicole M. also did some layering on her butterfly using vinyl on this layout.

Really simple to do & a quick and easy way to spice up the kitchen :)

Mad hatter's tea party..

I'm having a tea party with lots of yummy pastries & tea with a bunch of girlfriends for my 28th & just HAD to make these cute 3" x 4" invitations. Teacup image is from Heroarts 'So sweet' & sentiment is from Papertreyink's 'tea for two' stamp sets. Card base from PTI kraft & patterened paper is from Pebbles (love it!)

I modified some envelopes & stamped a little teacup image from PTI's anniversary set 'everyday classics' in brown chalk ink. The patterned paper used is from K & Co's Amy Butler 'Lotus' mat pad.

I'm looking forward to a great time :)

Hello peeps, I've been busy re-organising some of my stamps into CD cases & trying to clear some stash..came upon this Cosmo cricket die-cut elephant piece & decided it would be perfect to go with the Hero arts 'elephant stamp set (photo below the card) :) Totally cute & simple methinks! Anyhoos, here's what the stamp set looks like after i stored it into a CD jewel case.
Am in the ongoing process of getting my Heroarts stamps & some random favorites into Cd cases as well. I got this CD cabinet from Ikea & it's coming in VERY handy :) Not failing to mention it holds all my PapertreyInk stamps too...

Xmas layout

Finally I got round to scrapping my Christmas photos..this one was taken @ Raffles hotel on Xmas eve where we had a great dinner :) Used my Silhouette for the snowflakes & title, simple & quick. Also did abit of sewing on top of the snowflakes, my machine was giving me problems either that or i'm rusty haha. anyhow i'm ok with how it turned out.

Used a white gel pen to highlight around the title because it wasn't standing out enough...

I'm Baaackkk!

I'm bacckkk!! Had a nice homely Chinese New Year reunion dinner with my family on the 13th of feb, followed by a lazy 1st day of CNY & Valentine's @ home playing mahjong & ending it with some nice ice wine. On the 2nd day of CNY (15 feb) we did some charity work over at St Theresa's home for old aged & a scrumptious steamboat/bbq session over at Adrian's.
And off we went to Cambodia for a nice 5 day break! Just thought I'd share a few photos with you :)
Here's one of us after reunion dinner: And one of the beautiful Cambodia sunset ( we had to climb up a hill & some ruins to see this, totally tiring & dusty but totally worth it! ) just a note that this photo is NOT photoshopped, it really looks like that! The setting sun was best described to be as round & orange as the yolk of a salted duck egg lol

Next is a photo taken @ one of the temples @ Angkor Wat, Siem Reap. It was scorching hot!! 37 degree celcius *could get heatstroke if you're not careful*

Last but not least, a little fun photo taken @ the Grand Palace, Phnom Penhn of me & my lil' brother :)

ps: i got down to using my Silhouette as soon as i got home for some really cute bunnies i bought from the online shop. Too Cute!! I might have caught 'crafter's itch' after a week's break :p

PapertreyInk 'Paint' by Number Challenge

I am so loving the PapertreyInk's 3rd Anniversary Countdown!! Sweet surprises everyday i tell u :) They've got acrylic paints up next in to die for mini paint cans, how can one possible resist?? *accckk** Anyways...I got round to playing with today's challenge found here. There's a sketch & a 'paint by numbers' instructions to download, so fun!! My screen name starts with an 'F' so here's my palette with all the colours that i have to use:

I heat embossed the flower from 'friends till the end' using white embossing powder on pti vellum & then coloured the flower with a little bit of Y11 copic marker. Other stamp sets i used for this card were: polka dot basics 2, background basics: text style, faux ribbon.

Have u heard?? It's PapertreyInk's 3rd Anniversary and there are SO MANY new & exciting things they're coming up with!! Nicole Heady (stamper extraordinaire cum guru!) finally made a video today over at her blog. I decided to participate in the challenge, more because I was inspired rather than to win the lovely prize. But well, 25 inks pads + a stamp set etc won't hurt anybody right? lol.

I was at Laine's Papeterie earlier this arvo and Lo & behold!! They actually have Silhouette's adhesive-backed vinyl somewhere in storage :) I could have got them from custom crops or oh my crafts online store but I JUST COULD NOT WAIT. I was there @ Laine's a couple of times before and they always said they didn't have any but hey! i asked gorgeous Nancy & she said there were some in storage lol. I must mention they only have limited colours left though.

So anyways, I wanted to have this on my wall for AGES so I got to 'Silhouetting' once I got home. Oh, and you HAVE to get the transfer paper because it makes things much much easier.
Here it is, now on my wall next to the framed 12x12 shadow boxes:

Valentine's Day Love coupon booklet

hello!!! you've seen that I've pretty much gotten ready for Valentine's day & some of my dearest friends have gotten their cards already, hope u all love them! hehe I normally don't try to send then out so early but it falls on the same day as the first day of Chinese New Year & everyone will be busy so! Anyhoos...I got inspired by THIS post over at the Silhouette blog & decided to mix & match some of the designs I downloaded from their online store. I am SO loving my Silhouette *sigh* More about the booklet first:
1. I used up ALOT of leftover Basic Grey's 'Bittersweet' Collection from last year's valentines. Papers, Brads & Rub ons!

2. The insides of the coupons were typed out in Word, printed out once on normal copy paper. Then I adhered some die cuts I cut using my cuttlebug & Nestabilities'Label Four' dies, stuck it over the printed spot & ran it through the printer again. I could've easily cut out any shapes for the coupon wordings using the Silhouette but I missed my Cuttlebug a little ;)
As to what to put on the inside, you can find some ideas here or come up with some of your own specially customised for your love :)

3.The finished booklet measures 2.5 inches x approx 5.5 inches & fit perfectly into one of those Unity Stamp Co. cloth mesh bags that I kept 'just in case' lol! The stamps come in these bags when you order from them. Re-use people, recycle!

For the booklet I used the 'love coupon book' & 'mini album love 2129' combined for the covers. (available from Silhouette's online store)The video below from Nichol Margouirk has some really good tips for using the Silhouette machine, be sure to catch the other 2 instalments too!

Valentine's Day Treats

Thought I might give a few friends some sweet treat this year for Valentine's & the Silhouette makes it OH SO EASY! :) As some of you might know, V day also falls on the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year as well & as always family gatherings (loathe them or love them!) will be aplenty. So I have to be sure to get these babies out asap ;) The box template is from the Silhouette store & papers used are from K & co 'smitten' collection. They're too cute!! I'm probably going to stuff them with candies , lots of them!

Seriously, creating is such a breeze with the Silhouette !! No kidding here. Anyhoos, to embellish i stamped the cute ice cream stamp from Rubber Soul & sentiment from Papertreyink's 'Love Song' stamp set onto a punched out heart shape. Then add a ribbon & done in just under 30 mins ;)

Happy New Year dearies! I'm baaaaaaaackkk! I know I kinda fizzled out towards the end of 2009 & I really have no excuse except I've been busy with alot of other stuff! Mojo came and went, cards & scrapbook pages DID get completed in the time I was missing so all is not lost lol :) Now to just find my camera & start uploading photos of 'em.

I hope all of you had a wonderful year end holiday season & it's back to work for pretty much everyone. Here's wishing you all a fabulous, happy & healthy 2010 :)

I'll leave you with a card I made some time back (which I'm pretty sure I haven't shared here yet!) Cardstock is from papertreyink & stamps used include the heroarts 'antique flower background' stamp as well as a flower stamp from Unity stamp co (i think !)

Boo ! Happy Halloweenieee girls! I spent my Halloween night indoors @ home in my comfy pyjamas & some quality time with my workaholic bf. I did have a nurse uniform ready for a night out of partying but got lazy after a whole day of working + the weather that didn't really help ( it was pouring outside!) Guess the nurse outfit won't see the gleam of moonlight for another year haha...

Happy weekend peeps! It's the Formula 1 season here in Singapore and boy has been crazy hectic (traffic wise, that is!) Can't really go anywhere without running into one ugggh. We've had Beyonce, No Doubt and many others here celebrating with us this weekend (i didn't catch them though lol) but I'm sure it must be really fun! I have friends flying in from Indonesia to catch Beyonce & I heard she's great. So anyhooos, on the this week's sketch & my take : I played with a Sarah Kay acrylic stamp image & coloured in with light coloured Copic markers. Then I sponged the edges with some Tim Holtz Antique linen Distress ink & layered with patterned paper from Making Memories (ledger paper pad) & Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly. The sentiment is from Rubber Soul's 'Faith' clear acrylic stamp set. The fancy edge is created using a Fiskars border punch (not too sure what it's called lol) & the ribbon + button is some random buy :)

Hello dears, hope your week is going well! another day till it's the weekend :) In the meantime, it's time for tea lol. Here's a card i made awhile back, haven't had the mojo to craft for sometime so i'm glad I have my card Patterns DT cards to do once a week (that keeps my mojo going!) to be able to share with all you peeps my creations. Anyhoos, here it is: Lots of Papertreyink goodness on this card! can't not love PTI, right?
The focal point image is heat embossed with an American Crafts Zing embossing powder (love the range of colours they carry!) and the white part is coloured in with a white gel pen.

Welcome to another edition of Card Patterns sketches! We're @ 33 today , yippee! :) I had great fun making this card , plus I got to play around with my Quickutz Silhouette too :) The word frame is a design i downloaded from the Quickutz online store & am absolutely in love with it! After cutting the frame out I stamped it with PapertreyInk's Background Basics: Text Style.

The little blue dragonfly was actually part of a flower arrangement kit that my girlfriend gave me, I just snipped the wire on the back of with my almighty Tim Holtz Tonic scissors.

My mat's not too sticky anymore (can u bladdy believe it!?) so i resorted to using my Quickutz 'Manhattan' QuickStripz paper with adhesive on the back. And I wasted a few really pretty patterned paper too. Darn! Anyhoos, I got managed to get it right in the end :)

Happy Saturday peeps!! How's it going so far? I'm not working today so I got to sleep in! *aaahhh the luxury haha* i was staying up late last night browsing through the Quickutz Silhouette online shop, downloaded lots of designs that i can't wait to try! So far it has been pretty fun, the Silhouette...did a few layouts with it, have yet to try it out on cards yet. Anyhoos, still on the topic of die cutting our sponsor this week is The Cutting Cafe! They have WPC cutting files for sale too as well as some really cute digi stamps :) The design team got to play with a .pdf box template this week, lucky! Above is the sketch Mich specially made for the box, isn't it adorable? And below is my take:

I didn't change the box base but I added on some handles using a 1 3/4" circle punch & my paper cutter. I added on a little border accent at the bottom afterwards separately using a EK success border punch. The oval on the box is cut out using the Colluzle (love it, can't do cute boxes without it!) The butterfly & flower acetate accents are all from an old Heidi Swapp 'clear extras', i simply cut them out & added some bling. Here's the close up:

Got the gorgeous K&co Amy Butler Lotus stamps some time back & made this card. I simply love the images in the set! The Ämazing' sentiment stamp is from Clear Dollar stamps & is stamped with PapertreyInk's smokey grey ink. The little 'friends'' sentiment is from PTI's 'friends till the end' stamp set. Love the fonts in that set :) The butterfly is heat embossed with fine detail gold embossing powder, you prob cant really tell from the photo but I stamped a branch Amy butler stamp using versamark onto the blue cardstock for some tone on tone. I also used a corner flourish stamp from the Amy Butler stamp set on the envelope to match. Here's a close up:

Happy weekend everyone! I just got back from a badminton session & my body is aching all over (this goes to show how much more I need to exercise!) Do any of you play any group sports? I'm thinking of picking up some pilates too for some mid week exercise, anyone tried pilates? Anyways, on to this week's sketch!The team were spoiled by My Grafico this week. We used their products Mix and Match Stems and Birdies Stamps. I chose this adorable digital stamp to play with & printed out on thick PapertreyInk white cardstock so I could colour it in with Copic markers & it wouldn't bleed all over the table. I recommend you place a piece of scratch paper underneath anyways just in case ;)
I had tremendous fun colouring in the image this week, been some time since I took my Copics out for a workout lol! It's pretty therapeutic if you ask me ;) Just me, my music playing in the background & my colouring! Ok, Honestly I'd rather be on a white sandy beach somewhere but this comes pretty close too haha :) Here's a pic of the digi image close up :

Again, digi stamps can be so much fun & has alot of potential to it for e.g. resizing it to your own liking. My Graphico will be giving away 1 digital stamp set of your choice for one Card Patterns lucky winner!

Mid week shopping

Well hello hello hello! Quick share today for a card I made sometime back using PapertreyInk's 'Tea for two". I simply adore this set, check it out here. I've been wanting to buy some tea themed stamps for sometime & when PapertreyInk came out with this set, I had to have it! Seen alot of Coffee themed ones (not a coffee drinker me) out there though. Talking about having to have it, have you guys seen the new releases this month?? They're doing sneak peeks now over at Nichole Heady's blog--->A must check out! Back to the card though, I stamped the cute polka dot teapot image with versamark & heat embossed it with some American Crafts Neon Pink embossing powder. Delish! The variety they carry is to die for ;) I also stamped some tea cups in between the pots with smokey grey hybrid ink, they came out pretty light but I guess it's ok for a subtle look.

I hope you enjoyed my share today, I've got lots to catch up with in terms of taking photos of a few layouts I did in the past 2 weeks. Plus i got my hands on the new Cosmo Cricket 'earth love' & 'jolly by golly' 6x 6 paper pads , woot woot! Can't wait to play with them.

OK I am so incredibly late with my post, so sorry! It's a long weekend here, yesterday was Singapore's 44th birthday & Monday is a public holiday so I've been busy being the little butterfly hahaha There was the doggy day out with Teddy, Ethan's baby shower & William's birthday/housewarming on Saturday & was out shopping +movie yesterday. As for today (monday) i just got back from a badminton playing session & making dinner (lamb chops!) as I'm typing this. I hope i don't overcook those babies sitting in the oven right now :) On to the card we go:

I took 15 mins to make this card this week, literally threw on what was on my desk lol. Great fun with this one ;) The bottom of the card is stamped with the 'polka dot basics' stamp set from Papertreyink, I bought the polka dot V2.0 can't wait for it to arrive! Can't live without the dots ;)

Hello hello, it's the weekend again! What could be more fun than participating in a Card Patterns card sketch challenge while winning prizes or a guest designer spot? This week's sketch is gorgeous, like seriously dude. Check it out yo:

I'm really in love with the transparent card bases, lots of fun layering your cardstock & patterned paper! i even tried sewing on mine just to try it out & it turned out gorgeous! Just another way to adhere paper to your acetate card base ;)

That gorgeous paper is from Scenic route (sonoma collection methinks) & the stamp set I used for the tea time accent is from Papertreyink's 'Tea for Two'. The fabric brad is from Imagininsce if i recall correctly.
We made an extra project this week using their pre-cut & pre-scored gift card holders as well. (dandy!) I went for a totally fem feel for mine:

Didn't want to pull away the focus from my pretty butterfly so i kept the decoration of the card holder to a minimum. I hope you like it as much I do ;)

Here's how I made the butterfly:

1. Buff edges of Maya Rd chipboard butterfly using nail buffer or your Basic Grey files

2.Paint butterfly with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint (i used tattered rose) These paints dry out pretty fast, put in a few drops of water and shake if so

3.Let dry or use a heat gun (like little ol' impatient me)

4. Sponge on some Distress Inks to create emphasis in between the crackle (i used vintage photo & tattered rose) & wipe of excess with baby wipe/towel

5. Mix some pearl ex with a few drops of water & slather onto butterfly, spray acrylic coating or whatever medium you have to set the pearl ex mixture.

6. Adhere embellies (i used some lace ribbon, buttons & string ) & you're done! :)

So who doesn't love those polka dot papers from bazzil, huh?? They add such a nice touch to projects. OKok they've been around for sometime I know, but heck i do love 'em! They're not easy to get your hands on over here in Stinkapoh but I'll make do with what I can get thank u very much ;) Simple & quick card today: Loving this stamp from Unity Stamp co. I think it's from one of their monthly kit club 2 months ago, you could still get your hands on 'em over @ Unity here. Just some basic colouring in with some Copic markers & a touch of ribbon from Papertreyink. Popped on some dimensionals & voila! Quick & easy for a Monday. Off to get some scrap stuff I ordered from YSS from felicia in abit. Still thinking up projects to do once I my Silhouette SD gets here, yeay! Any of you use it? I know Michelle's wanting one of 'em machines too ;)

Happy Saturday Peeps! My blogging has officially been reduced to once a week. *crap*. I wish I had more time to play with my scrap goodies, will be sure to put in more effort esp. since I just bought my Quickutz Silhouette SD, Yeay!! It's still in New York @ the moment waiting for my cousin to bring it over...can't wait!! Been so inspired by Nichol margouirk & the rest who've been using it (basically meant that I HAD to get it! lol) Anyways, on to this week's sketch! A tad of layering fun with papers this week, all the patterned papers used are from the Odd Bird Planet 'Fairy Tale' kit. Aloha~~~ It's the weekend again, can you believe it?? And yes, I'm working tomorrow as well uggghhh sorry that you gottta hear me whine every week bwahahah Hope you're having a great day out there though ;) Here's this week's sketch! A totally adorable one too, the sketch this week! It's time to dig out those border punches like I did with my card below: Went for a totally cool look this week, I used Papertreyink's Ocean tides cardstock together with white & some silver metallic paper. If you're reading this felicia, thanks so much for cutting those stars for me :) I also dug out my EK success border punch for this card, totally cannot for the life of me recall what the bladdy punch is called but I think it adds a nice touch to the card .

I also used vellum underneath the star frame and also cut out a smaller vellum star to give it abit of fun. That bit of text paper is from October afternoon's cherry hill collection & the bling's from prima (i cut out the part that i want, it was originally larger). The sentiment is from Papertreyink's star set. I hope you've enjoyed my share!

Love this cute set from Gel-a-tins! The sentiments are really cute too...I guess I'm more of a dog rather than cat person (no offence) but I was traumatised when I was a wee little thing. The story goes that I was 3-4 & got scratched by a nasty one, although I was really just trying to be nice :( Oh well...never had a thing for cats claws since then...

So the base card is stamped all over with the dog images from the stamp set in black & a piece of patterned paper (cannot remember who from for the life of moi!) It was just a scrap lying around so I picked it up to use it. Feels good to use up all those scraps :)
Anyways, I'm really tired today although I'm in need of an ice cold beer (visualising...aaaah*)
Nothing feels better than a cold one at the end of a long tiring day at work, yes??? bwahaha

Hello & welcome to another Card Patterns post! It totally does NOT feel like a saturday to me. In fact, it doesn't feel as though the weekend has actually arrived. So maybe it MIGHT have something to do with the fact that I work on a Saturday.............-_-

Ok so I literally flipped the sketch around this time, so you could better see how the decorated front of my take( gift card holder) looks like ;) For the politically correct version, please visit the Card Patterns blog bwahaha. Sorry for the crap photos...I had bad lighting (late in the night) & I was dead tired after work. Aaargh, yes I know..No excuses. so I'm thinking I will make it up to you peeps by taking better lookin' ones for next week's Card Patterns post :) So we lucky girls (& a boy) got to play with some fantastic stuff from Shortcuts, gotta say I really love their card bases! We got some frosted, transparent ( clear acetate) as well as some cute gift card holders (all pre-scored) to play with. If you ask me, those pre folded gift card holders are gonna do me some good come Christmas time ;)

Using up some of my old stash of Making memories (curvy label) here as well as mixing in some newer patterned papers from K & co. I think it's from the berry sweet collection? Something simple & clean this week, not too cluttered. Don't really want the gift card holder to be too bulky especially since I'm sending it through the post :)

...but not with envy *lol* What with the H1N1 virus going around here in Singapore, even the slightest sneeze/coughing can send the surrounding peeps running for cover. It's funny really, kinda like seeing an magnetic shield appear out of nowhere around the sneezy/coughing person. I sorta had a slight fever the on Monday too (hence no post) & got sent home from work, but I felt fine the next day. Bought thermometers for the peeps at the office too, just to be safe.

Anyhoooss....on the the greenish card!

The stamps on the papertreink vanilla cardstock are from unity stamp co. The green patterned card base is actually a newer Papertreyink cardstock colour (don't recall the name of it) and the patterns are stamped with pti's 'guidelines' set. They carry a guidelines 2 set now as well, I've got both sets and they're so fun to play with!

It's midweek, and only 2 more days to the weekend yeay!

Hello peeps, how's your weekend going?? It's Card Patterns time again and we're at sketch #21 :) Odd Bird Planet's our sponsor again this week & the design team got the chance to play with their fairytale kit. Absolutely cute stuff in that kit, i tell ya ;)The moment I saw the stamps that came in the set I knew I had to make something ala 'princess & the pea'' themed! Here's my take on the sketch:

I created a tab to pull out the duckie on the mattress (abit of masking work here with the image) to reveal a 'pea'' underneath, which was originally a tiny egg that came with the kit too but I coloured it with a green copic marker.

All papers, stamps & lace came form the kit with the exception of the buttons and sentiment stamps which in this case was from Papertreyink's ''damask designs''. I simply love the cursive font used in that stamp set.

And here's the inside of the card with a stamped pair of golden webbed feet (also from the set) hehe I hope you like my take on the sketch, I had such fun making this card!

I'm still here, just posting in periodic spasms now haha. We had beautiful weather today here in Singapore & by that I mean rain & cloudy skies! It has been SO unbearably hot & humid (like 35celcius) for the past week that when I woke up this morning, looked out my window & saw grey skies I literally jumped for joy!!! Now that I think about it, the heat might have drove me insane. Not to mention my utilities bill this month from all the air-con usage. (have yet to pick up enough courage to open the envelope yet) *lol*

On to the card! It's one I made awhile back:Played around with some older basic grey papers here & I just LOVE the little chipboard letter stickers (also from BG) that K.werner is using oh so often in her videos lately for e.g. this one

The swirl stamp from stampington & co. is one of my faves, also one that i often use.

A quick card share today...been so overwhelmed with work it feels like i'm working 2 jobs *lol* I'm taking it all in my stride though! Here's a 3x3" card made with papertreyink's kraft cardstock. The bird stamp is from Unity stamp co. (i think it's from their may kit of the month) & coloured in with copic markers, am loving the effect on kraft :) The sentiment's from Papertreyink's 'mixed messages'. That set is really THE set to go to for all round card sentiments & they've got a larger version out now called 'mega mixed msgs' that I haven't had the time to get round to buying yet.

I've been listening to 'Mad World' made famous by tears for fears over & over lately. such a beautiful sad song...Click to view the video here. Prob not THE best video but I just listen to the song haha.

Hello peeps! How's you week going?? Sharing a video & card I made some time ago with u today, i hope you'll like it!I used this adorable elephant set from Heroarts for this card. LOVEEEE it! The yellow background is stamped with Adironrack's 'sunshine yellow' dye ink on yellow cardstock for a subtle tone on tone effect. The sentiment is stamped with versamark & then embossed with white embossing powder. For more check out the video I made:

Card Patterns #19

Welcome to Card Patterns #19! My birthday falls in the 19th so it's my favourite number :) I love this week's sketch so much & decided to flip the sketch 90 degrees CCW to make my card. So I began by made a swing card using a kraft cardstock base. You can find the tutorial over at split coast here.

The My Graphico images are resized using Adobe Photoshop CS3 but you can use any other photo imaging program on your computer for e.g. microsoft paint. Once I was happy with the sizes of the images, I printed them out first on regular printer paper and then cut small pieces of patterned paper that I wanted to use, adhered on to it with repositionable adhesive & ran it through the printer again. Came out perfect & really easy to do!

Here's what the card looks like when its closed:

The butterflies are cut out then matted with white paper & distressed with vintage photo distress ink, then accented with flat backed pearls. I took care to connect the butterfly trails on the front of the card to the inside :)

The front sentiment is from papertreyink's 'friends till the end' stamp set and inside sentiment is from heroarts. Both are embossed with white embossing powder & heat gun. The scallops are done with a Fiskar's scallop sentiment border punch. I use it so often that it's got its own permanent space on my studio desk now.

I printed out the bird and tree digital stamps on patterned paper then paper pieced it, the clouds are stamps from an older sassafras stamp set and is clear embossed.

The edges of the whole card is sponged with white kraft ink as well as some 'vintage photo' distress ink. Here's a close up of the heart accent at the bottom right:

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been posting as much as I should, been a tad busy with work & drama serials *lol* PLUS the weather has been so hot & humid lately that I can't seem to create anything much! So for now I'm pretty much sharing cards that I made awhile ago and have not shared :) I simple adore the colours on this card. I started out playing around creating the patterned paper with white cardstock & the PTI's 'guidelines 2' stamp set and built the card up from there. The colours used on the patterned paper are 'melon berry, spring rain, raspberry fizz & summer sunrise' I also had the opportunity to try out my then 'new' label four dies from Nestabilities & really love how it turned out :)

The ribbon looks complicated but it's really easy to do; You can find my video tutorial showing you how I tied the ribbon here.

T's been feeling under the weather lately, what with the extreme humidity here in Singapore + sudden downpours. So I made this card for him with this adorable stamp set from Crafty Secrets and the Crackled glass technique.
Lots of fun with UTEE and the heatgun. The ducky image is coloured with watercolour pencils and the edges are distressed then inked with some 'vintage photo' distress ink.

Childhood Buddies.

Hello new Monday! I went up to Kuala Lumpur for Valentine's Day this year with T for a short trip as well as to celebrate my hildhood buddy's bday which falls on the 15th. Serene's mum and mine are Mahjong buddies back in the early 1990s and from then so were serene and me :) We went to the same primary school, even went to Japan & Australia for the first time together as kids. We somehow lost contact in the middle when I went overseas for studies for years and then found each other again by chance when I went to visit a 'friend's friend with a friend' at Beaufort college, Perth. There she was sitting there shouting my chinese name (which no one ever uses) , and we kept in touch from then on! The both of us cannot be more similar yet so different. Headstrong, wild and fun loving yet enjoy cooking & dogs. If you're reading this darling, I love ya :)
On to the layout, I started it off with a white base and built up the rest using the colours from our t-shirts in the photos. The part around the photos are pretty straightforward, stamps, alpha stickers, lace + scalloped border.

I had abit more fun with the top left corner of the layout though.

For this part I :

stamped the corner with a 'wrought scroll' stamp from Stampington & co. in blue
Die cut a flower from an old book then stamped over with some Technique tuesday stamps, added a threaded red button
stamped a flower from papertreyink's 'garden of life' & attached a contrast colored pearl accent
used a fancy brad with a red flower
abit more stamping with a catslife press rubber stamp

The this black strips of paper were added last as I thought it needed abit more oomph :) Some enabling:

It's already Wednesday? Oh my, time passes by really quickly nowadays. The Stampin' Out Alzheimers event is also nearing its end. I think it's really great that Jen Tapler is doing this, what a great cause! Anyways, I noticed that my blog hit 10,000 hits not too long ago! Just wanna say thank you for visiting so far, it has been my joy to share with all of you :) The blogging community is amazing, truly! Here's a card I made with some hero arts heart stamps using paper piecing and masking techniques. Butterflies

Here's a card I made at felicia's a week or so ago, and I got to play with some of her MANY stamps hehe! I love that gorgeous distressed heart background from Unity Stamp as well as the gorgeous Maya road butterfly stamps. Actually one of the prettier butterfly stamp sets I've seen :) I used a techique I learnt from Jennifer Mcguire, where you mix the pearl ex and water and then apply it over an image to give it a shimmery look. You could also use liquid dimensional pearls in the same way :) You can see the soft effect it gives from the photo below:
The inside is also stamped with another cute Maya road butterfly image and coloured in with Copics. I used Y11, Y38, YR04 and YR21 to colour in both the images on the front of the card and the one inside.

Oh, and I got a new job!! Yeay!!!

Hello everyone! Sketch #17 today and that means it's the last one for the Spring card patterns design team..A few of the girls will be leaving us this week, so sad!! But I have been truly inspired and happy to be able to create alongside these talented ladies. It has been wonderful knowing all of you: Tracy, Sonya, Marie, Rae and Ingrid. These friendships truly do last, and I hope all of you the best in your future endeavours! Please come by and say hi still :) That being said, I'll be staying on the team for another term :) Here's an Anniversary card I madewith my take on the sketch:

Here's a closer look on those flowers all glittered up and copic coloured. The flowers are printed out in 3 different sizes to create a variety using Adobe photoshop cs3. You should be able to play with the stamp using alot of other basic programs like Microsoft paint etc. The edges of the flowers are lightly inked with 'vintage photo' distress ink and popped up with dimensionals. The edges of the card base are inked too, just to add abit more depth.

All the lovely digital stamps used are from DigiShack & they're again our VERY generous prize sponsor for this week :) Check them out here. Digital stamps are so IN right now, and they're really fun too! Imagine being able to change the sizes/dimensions of a stamp whichever way you wanted! I really love Kim Teasdale's style of cards. Lots of layering and paper toling. So I thought i might just give it a go (totally inspired). It came out pretty cute looking I think, especially with those cute yet really affordable stamps from Inkadinkadoo. Never fails to make me laugh with their silly puns ;) So I coloured in the dude with watercolour pencils, paper-toled the part where he holds the money bag & then 'glossy accented' it. The base scallop is cut out with my Colluzle & the green layer is just cut around with a patterned scissors.
I love the bead accent pinned to the ribbon :) All in all, I had fun although I think it's a little too thick and heavy AND too much work for my liking. ah, and the patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye!
So anyways on another topic, this morning I went for an interview at a recruiting agency, and another one later at 4 pm. Going for interviews are tiring! I wish I had enough passive income for me to just stay home, online shop and play....Then again, who doesn't? *lol*

I love making my own patterned paper! And the PapertreyInk 'Guidelines 1 & 2' allows me to do just that. It's fun to make something that's uniquely your own, and you can pretty much use any stamps you want. Here's a card that I made using Papertreyink's 'Guidelines 2' & 'Life'. The small flowers were from another PTI set called 'Boxes, bags & tags'. Here's what the paper looked like right before I used it for the card.

Tea Box with Timeless Templates

Happy Tuesday guys! I've been busy with interviews lately so my posts as been short, sorry! I'm off for another interview later and a 2nd interview for another company this friday...I hope things turn out ok *stressed* Anyways, here's a little tea bag holder box I put together using Papertreyink 'Bun in the oven' template :) The front acetate panel accent is stamped with the Papertreyink 'tea for two' stamp set using dark brown Staz On ink and then stuck on with Glossy accents.
The button/pearl/twine is to make it easier to pull out the 'flip out' part of the box, revealing the tea bags inside. The box is stamped with Papertreyink's 'Backgound basics:retro' before assembling.

And the vintagey lace is from Daiso (like a dollar store) Incredible stuff you can find there! Yards of thoes lovely laces can be found ;) I hope you like this project share!

Card Patterns #16

Hello hello to another Card Patterns sketch, we're up to number #16. Here's today's fantastic sketch@! And it's a fun one to play with if you ask me ;) I got my hands on the new October Afternoon 'Cherry Hill' collection, can i say cute!?!? My faves are the ones I used for my card below as well as the text one & pretty much a majority of them in the paper pack *lol* Here's my take on the sketch:

The scallops & squares are die cut using nestabilities dies and my cuttlebug machine & then layered with dimensionals. I did double layering ie. square, square scallop, square, square scallop because the image was pretty small ( i forgot to resize before printing) and I wanted it to be the focal point. The whole card is machine stitched around the border and the sentiment is from Papertreyink's 'Boards & Beams' stamp set on a 'double ended tags' nestabilities die cut; sponged on the edges.

The digital stamp image is coloured in with Copic Markers, here's a close up look:

Rosy Birthday

Got around to playing more with my Anniversary set from PapertreyInk. And just when I got my new PTI charcoal grey cardstock in too! Another look:

I can honestly tell you I'm loving the grey, I mean I've been wishing for a grey colour from PTI for some time now and they finally have it! The scallops are done with the scallops sentiment punch from Fiskars.

Birthday Layout

Here's my birthday layout, FINALLY ! My bday was back in march and i actually got this layout done some time back, just haven't got around to the journalling part yet haha. The colour scheme of the layout matches my bcbg dress ;) The photo collage is resized and arranged using Adobe Photoshop Cs3 & then printed out on a piece of A4 matte photo paper using my HP all in one photo printer. Quality is not too bad, I'm still aiming for the Epson photo printer! The white lines you see across the photos are actually strings, just thought they'd be a nice accent to enhance the photos.
Some stamps used are papertreyink's 'fresh alphabet' & 'wishing you'.

Paper-toled nurse

I hope I haven't shared this with you all before...i totally adore this stamp set from Crafty Secrets esp this cute little image of the nurse and the little ducks! It's the only stamp set that has the 'Get Well' theme I have (i think!?)The image is coloured in with watercolour pencils and then sponged on the edges with some Tim Holtz 'Vintage Photo' Distress Ink. The nurse image is paper toled, click on the photo to enlarge.

Happy Monday everyone! So how about a baby card to start off a new week? Babies= new beginnings, right? It's a card I made quite some time back but have yet to post, I hope you like it! I think it'll be great for a baby shower or perhaps even an invitation :) The base is Papertreyink's Aqua Mist cardstock ran through the cuttlebug with the 'swiss dots' embossing folder. The white base is criss-crossed scored with my cutterpede and the yellow base is die cut with square nestabilities & then embossed. The cute duckie image is from papertreyin's 'bitty baby blessings'.

The ribbon is 'vanilla' satin also from PTI.

Card Patterns #15

Hello it's a saturday again! wow, time flies man. Another sketch up for Card Patterns today :) Here it is: And Muh take:

I hope you like my take of the sketch! I actually made that embellishment from scratch :) The flower layers were cut out with a Bosskut die & my Cuttlebug Machine which is then adhered onto a pinwheel (which tutorial you can find here)

The flourish stamps are from a quickutz limited edition 'sophisticate' alpha die set I bought sometime back and the sentiment is from PapertreyInk's 'Damask Design' set. The cute brown shape is cut out using Stampin' UP's Top Note die.

But as I'm running around with interviews & so pretty busy this whole week I finished up my card earlier, uploaded it and then realised we've got digi images to use for the cards. Like, AAaack! Tea for Two Card

Here's a card I made using PapertreyInk's 'tea for two' set from last month's release. i only got it a few days ago, but am loving it already!!! Oh and have you seen the new releases this month yet?? I'm getting the star set & most prob the rustic 'quick pick' :) Check out the new release here. The base is stamped with lines from PTI's 'journalling lines' with the fresh snow ink. THE best white ink EVER i must add! I stamped the teapot on vanilla cardstock, cut that out and mounted it on the base (die cut with stamping up's top note die) The patterened paper is from Basic Grey.

I simply love the brown accent above, it's heat embossed with white embossing powder on some brown scrap paper i had lying around. The teabag inside is strawberry flavoured :)

I sent this off to my friend Donna, who's in Shanghai working as a product designer for Calvin Klein. She makes really ADORABLE miniature houses too, and fiercely talented! Check her blog out ;)

A wedding card share today, I coloured in the image with Copic markers & used some patterned paper from Basic Grey's bittersweet collection. Actually wanted to send this to a friend whose wedding I couldn't attend, but i ended up sending her another one instead. I learnt that you can colour the background with a copic marker and then use the colourless blender to soften the edges. This makes it look like it was airbrushed :) I think I got this tip from Debbie Olson. (link to her blog on the left bar under thinking inking blog)
The bouquet stamp is from a Rubber Soul wedding stamp set, I used the same set for the couple silhouette in a card share few days ago. The round dotted frame is from an old Heidi Swapp stamp set. Another tip when using copics, don't use versafine or stazon inks they will bleed! and most probably stain your marker nibs. I recommend Memento dye inks :)

Housewarming Gift

A couple of friends will be having their housewarming party soon so when I saw this bird feeder from nicole heady's post, I knew I had to make one! It is TOO cute! The roof is stamped with PapertreyInk's 'basic backgrounds:retro' stamp set. Love that set I tell ya ;)
The bird image is from the PTI anniversary set (not for sale) & the sentiment is from PTI's 'boards & beams' stamp set. Inside is a tealight candle holder , it's a tad too big for the nest (hence the bulge) but it still managed to fit in the box!

Tickets Holder

Happy Tuesday peeps :) Angela commissioned this card last night to hold some play tickets she's giving her friend as a birthday gift. It's to the Singapore Repertory Theatre's rendition of Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing'. If you like having a picnic under the stars while watching a great humourous play, this is SO for you! I don't have a chance to catch it this year, but everyone whom I knew went told me it was excellent. More info here. So I wanted to create an evening scene & the masking/sponging technique worked perfect :) The couple silhouette is a stamp image from this Rubber Soul Wedding set. I masked off the veil, stamped & just coloured the image in with my black Copic marker. Then I hand drew the stars in the sky with a white gel pen.

The colours I used to sponge the evening sky are Tim Holtz distress inks (vintage photo & spiced marmalade) as well as Adironrack's sunshine yellow.
The card is made longer so I could include a folded over flap to make a pocket for the tics. I had some old creative imaginations music sheet patterned paper in my scrap bag & decided it was perfect for covering the inside ;) The pocket is held together with small eyelets set with my crop-a-dile.

And I included a little card to be inserted together with the tickets (for angela to write her greeting etc)

The sentiment in the insert if from PapertreyInk's Birthday Basics. A must get, and probabably the only set you'll ever need in terms of birthday card sentiments. I showed her these photos last night & she loved it. Hopefully her friend will love it too :)

Honestly, I don't play with my stamps enough. There're endlesss projects to make with, and just not enough time! For e.g I got the PapertreyInk Anniversary set (not avail for sale, it's a free set that only comes when you purchase a certain amount of PTI stamps in a year ) quite some time back and I only managed to make ONE card. So here it is ;) The card base is Aqua Mist & the yellow patterned paper is the lemon tart bitty dots basic. The other PP are scraps from the Making memories 'flower patch' line. I adhered a red button on the top of the cupcake as the cherry, cute ya? All stamps are from the anniversary set :)

The images in the set are THE cutest ever. Check out the set I'm talking about here. And I love how the designers come up with their creations and share them on the PTI gallery too!

Anyhoos, still on the topic of Papertreyink they're doing their releases for this month as we speak. Head on over to Nichole Heady's blog. A MUST see. I saw this cute bird house template that she shared on yesterday's post & I seriously cannot wait to try it out! Got a few friends who're having housewarming parties soon so that would be oh-so-perfect haha.

And yes, I'm drooling over their releases esp the bird ones & the text style ones. I'm sorta digging the star one sneaked today too, OH MY! & i started off this post saying I don't play with my stamps enough. now i see why. OH WELL.

Card Patterns #14

It's the weekend, YEAYYY!!! and this means there's a guitar heroes session tonight with T's bro & wife *lol* Can't wait! We got some new songs from Jakarta so that should be fun :) I'm excited about church this evening too! tralala~ On to this week's sketch from Card Patterns!

Can you believe we're up to sketch #14 already? WOW. I LURVE this week's sketch, and remember to check out everyone else's take too they're GORGEOUS!! Here's my take:

The card base is embossed with the cuttlebug 'swiss dots' folder & the flowers are die cut using another die as well. I think it's a bosskut die?! Hmm.. Anyways, I did some stamping on the flowers with a Manuscript Background stamp from HeroArts before adhering all the layers together. A flat backed pearl accent is added on top of the flowers & to finish the card I tied some grosgrain ribbon in Ocean Tides (papertreyink) , some lace ribbon (Daiso) & some jute around the front. The 'Love Blooms' sentiment is from this stamp set.

And *drum roll pls* this week's sponsor is:

Clear thanks + my 1st tote!

Hello peeps! How's your day going? I've been a busy little girl!! tons of design stuff to do as well as other daily errands to run. My car's in the workshop for servicing, the guy called me earlier to tell me that my suspension system on my front right tyre was leaking. I mean, do suspensions leak in the first place?? arrghhh. Anyways, so not going to fix that problem there. Going to bring it in to Malaysia to do it, cheaper that way PLUS I've got a friend there in the car industry so I know they will not be overcharging me HAH.

Here's a card I made some time back, I had some Hambly leftover so i used it for this card which shape I cut out with my Cuttlebug & Labels One Nestabilities dies. I then cut another inward layer to mat the shape with the same dies only 1 size down. There's a video I made on how to do something similar like this if you wanna see :) Here it is.

By the way, I'm loving the papertreyink's 'damask designs' stamp set that comes with that gorgeous sentiment! Truly so classic.
Then I just tied some string around the front of the card and adhered a punched out star & layered on some buttons. There's some faux stitching too, NO way can I really sew something like that using the pink mean sewing machine *lol*
Still on the topic of sewing, I made this tote last night!

Isn't it cute??? The finishing inside isn't too fab but OK for a first try i guess :) And the ugly stitching on the front from attaching the handles? Just cover' em up with some matching ribbon. GLUED ON bwahahaha

Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet, maybe store punches or something along that line teehee. I took inspiration from here & here if you wanna check it out. Do hop around to the 2nd link, Elizabeth's got lotsa great tutorials over there ;)

Hope in realness + altered frame

More stuff (final instalment) for the Scrapbooking from the inside out guest designer stint! Here's the last layout I did:

love the journaling on this one, i actually found this written on a toilet wall at a restaurant @ dempsey hill *lol* well i guess inspiration strikes you everywhere huh? so anyways i knew this would be perfect for the 'hope' theme.

The journalling spot's designed by Nancy Doren herself! really pretty, and really talented that woman. She recently got on the GCD studios design team too , congrats girly ;) She's a huge part of Scrapbooking From the Inside Out too so you gotta check them out.

i green chalk inked the chipboard butterfly that came with the kit then stamped it over with the really pretty prima stamp (that also came with the kit!) i accent coloured the flowers on the butterfly with a pink copic marker (R22 i believe it was) and then UTEE-ed the whole thing.

After all the layouts + 1 card, I still had so much leftover! So i altered this Ikea frame for my cousin (she loved it, yeay!)

Isn't that photo too cute? obviously we were pretending to be flamingoes hahaha. the photo's taken over at Jurong Bird Park, tons of fun esp the aviary where you could hand feed the birds!

Card Patterns #13

Ali e digital + heroarts mayflowers

I was so happy to find Ali Edward's 'loving words' digi over at designer digitals. It's on sale too! check it out. I couldn't get my hands on the technique tuesday stamp set but digi's good enough! Here's what I made with it: I recently bought A4 sized matte photo paper so I could print out my own larger photos using my HP all in one printer. The quality turned out pretty good, although I'm still aiming for the Epson photo printer.
The centre accents are cute dog themed brads which I got from Made With Love, not sure who the manufacturer is but I layered it on 2 punched out circles. The hearts are also punched out with 2 different sized heart punches and then machine stitched.

I really like Ali Edward's style! I actually emailed her to tell her how much i love the digi kit & she replied saying she liked me layout ;)

Here's a card for Heroart's blog 'mayflowers' challenge this week. I cut the shaped card using my colluzzle (the curved part) , stamped the flowers first then ink-washed the background with a sponge applicator , distress inks +water. check out their flickr group too, lots of inpiration!

Friends, Butterflies & doorknobs

Hello hello! How's your day going?

I met up with an old BFF of mine earlier today for tea (we were pissed off with each other over some misunderstandings) and cleared the polluted air that accumulated over months. Weird thing was, after we purified the air we got along just like old times. Friends like these are hard to find huh?

Anyways, I'm not someone who likes to bear grudges, it's too taxing/tiring feeling angry. But I'm prob the kind of person who needs to cool off for abit first ie. i'll be ignoring you for awhile. *lol* I guess occassionally there are times when you just don't 'click' with certain friends anymore (not talking about today's friend) but I do feel that if you appreciate the person as a friend, the relationship will definitely be worth saving.

All in all, it was great to hear and talk about what we missed in each other's life(lots of goss too, since our boyfriends are best buds). i actually missed her quite abit. ;) OK, on to today's card!!I've been dying to get my hands on some Martha Stewart punches esp. the butterfly ones (hello martha, singapore needs your stuff! *wave wave*) but i couldn't find them anywhere so I was simply thrilled to get my hands on a EK success one. Just a simple card with punching from scrap papers. great way to recycle! The middle trio of the butterflies is punched out from some DCVW glitter paper (12x12 paper pack). I need to use them more often i guess, was hoping to win a Cricut expression over at Moxie fab world's HUGE giveaway last week. It would have been nice to use those papers with the cricut. Alas, no win but the cricut dreamin' is still on :)

The gorgeous 'for you' stamp is from Kim Hughes 'baked with love set'. I seriously don't know what i was thinking when i bought that set, i mean i don't even bake?! or at least i was hoping to get started on baking i guess? now, i just need to go out and buy an oven *lol*

Another item I'm adding to the handmade stash I'll be giving to my beautiful cousin. Made from lovely K & Co berry sweet papers i present to you the door hanger:

Hope she loves it! I'll make sure she hangs it on her door, otherwise i'll make her hang it around her neck *lol* not a very nice gift-giver huh? bwahaha. Off to pack for tomorrow's trip, can't wait!
