Clear thanks + my 1st tote!

Friday, May 8, 2009

Hello peeps! How's your day going? I've been a busy little girl!! tons of design stuff to do as well as other daily errands to run. My car's in the workshop for servicing, the guy called me earlier to tell me that my suspension system on my front right tyre was leaking. I mean, do suspensions leak in the first place?? arrghhh. Anyways, so not going to fix that problem there. Going to bring it in to Malaysia to do it, cheaper that way PLUS I've got a friend there in the car industry so I know they will not be overcharging me HAH.
Here's a card I made some time back, I had some Hambly leftover so i used it for this card which shape I cut out with my Cuttlebug & Labels One Nestabilities dies. I then cut another inward layer to mat the shape with the same dies only 1 size down. There's a video I made on how to do something similar like this if you wanna see :) Here it is.

By the way, I'm loving the papertreyink's 'damask designs' stamp set that comes with that gorgeous sentiment! Truly so classic.
Then I just tied some string around the front of the card and adhered a punched out star & layered on some buttons. There's some faux stitching too, NO way can I really sew something like that using the pink mean sewing machine *lol*
Still on the topic of sewing, I made this tote last night!
Isn't it cute??? The finishing inside isn't too fab but OK for a first try i guess :) And the ugly stitching on the front from attaching the handles? Just cover' em up with some matching ribbon. GLUED ON bwahahaha
Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet, maybe store punches or something along that line teehee. I took inspiration from here & here if you wanna check it out. Do hop around to the 2nd link, Elizabeth's got lotsa great tutorials over there ;)
Have a great day!! :)

Baby gift set

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

I had a video ready for today but YouTube has been down for maintenance or something for quite awhile so I can't upload anything in time. So, here I am sitting in my room/studio with the heavy thunder and lightning + rain outside (shivering dog under my desk included!) Thought I'd share with you this baby gift set I made for Isaac's 2nd birthday a couple of weeks ago. I loved Barb Schram's baby card here so much i had to case it :) I cut the little 'flag' on top with cuttlebug's tiny tags die set using some white foam & the cuttlebug then stamped the sentiment from Papertreyink's 'bitty baby blessings' stamp set. That set is a must have for baby everything!
Above is the box I custom made for this small pillow below:

All wrapped up nicely with tissue & kept folded closed with the punched out circle accent I stamped using the Just Rite stamper set. Love how I can personalise it :) Looks like it came from a boutique, eh? I save the tissue papers that the Papertreyink stamps come in, knew they'd come in handy one of these days *lol*

And there's the pillow! Recognise that fabric? Thanks Regina ;) I think it turned out pretty cute & i'm glad Isaac (and his mum) loved it! It's always nice to make something for someone from scratch & this set was one of them. Thanks for joining me today, I hope you're inspired to make something for someone today!
BTW Have you seen the number of ppl participating for sketch#12 over at Card Patterns this week? I mean wow!! We've even got a boy on the list *lol* (and he's good too!) Remember, this week's sponsor is Unity Stamp Co & there's also a guest designer spot up for grabs. GO!
Have a good one ;)

Amy butler cards + pincushion

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Remember I was saying that I broke out some of my Amy Butler paper the other day? well here are the cards I made with it. The patterned papers used on these 2 cards are basically the flip sides of one piece (couldn't bring myself to use the rest *lol) And one is the scraps of the other, kwim? no wastage here peeps hahaSo the owl image is from one of the old Kit of the month from Unity stamps Co. And that grey branch is something I cut out from Cosmo cricket's 'ever after' line.Btw did you know amy butler has free patterns for both paper & fabric projects? SO my kinda girl, check out here site yea?

Here's the other side of the paper (from the Lotus collection) Isn't is GorJuss? i HAD to use up every scrap :)
So on to some sewing! :

Ok so my pincushion is a tad out of shape, but seriously i don't care cos it basically still functions as one *lol* It's really easy and fun to make! I learnt how to here. I used white felt for the other side & am totally feeling elated at my new found passion for sewing. I also made another one of those boxy pouches for Regina, photos tomorrow!
Have a great day peeps! it's the weekend !!

Creative Therapy #57 + ointment pillows

Thursday, April 16, 2009

I haven't played along with Creative Therapy for ages so i checked in earlier today and loved their catalyst this week! 'What makes you laugh?' Easy one for me I must say, because the person who makes me laugh all of the time is my lover, best friend & best confidante T. ;) Not to mention he's really patient (especially when chocolate's running low in the household= crankiness) *lol* Lots of playing around with Gesso for this layout, and I tried a new approach today! Basically i took out all the co-ordinating supplies in terms of colours & went at it. I think it worked out great. Does anyone else do that? I know mishie does , but it's new to me. Normally I just 1. take photos out 2.pick matching patterned papers & work from there. I think the old way made me leave out using alot of my stash. So all in all, I'm feeling Geewwwdddd ;) another thing that made me feel good today was this video!
Anyhoos, here's a close up:

The photos were taken at my birthday party last month (the nail spa thingy) So love that bcbg dress!
And here's a pillow I made last night for T. Per his request.

I had a great laugh last night when he asked me to make him a little pillow (totally something your son or a young boy would ask you!) & he made a puppy face when asking *lol* Anyways, I completed the pillow (he loved it!) but asked me to sew on a pocket onto it. I was like "huh, what for??" And then I realised he wants the pocket to place his ointment in it so it's easier to find. OMG...I'm dating an old man *gasp* normally esp. in asia we tend to associate those wee bottles of ointment with old men who like to *sniff* at it like a drug of sorts. (it's not a drug, just something like a Vicks inhaler except in liquid form).
Let's just say i sewed the pocket (with zipper) & then onto the pillow with a huge grin ;)
And to all of you girls out there who're hoarding your sewing patterns (yes mich that's u) , get sewing! It's totally therapeutic after the part where you want to tear your hair out when the machine runs crazy on ya. haha
Have a great day , it's the weekend all over again! :)

Yeay for Safari mari + some sewing!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Ok so I've been on the quiet side these few days but only because I've been busy making these :) I totally loved Lauren Meader's 'from the desk of' template here but I'm not going to be able to dig out $5 this month to buy her template (most of the time I just case hers and come up with my own measurements) erm..is this illegal? anyways! What with a holiday end of the month and on top of bills + other 'must gets' from Papertreyink, i just gotta cut down! *i'm sure alot of you can stand with me on this* tee hee. On to the project! I played around with measurements etc (let me know if you'd like them) & somehow manage to come up with a similar one that can fit in the normals cards as well as other goodies. So I'm making this for my cousin (bringing it over when I meet on our trip) & I know that she'll love it! Although she visits my blog sporadically i'm kinda hoping she won't see this fingers crossed. OK what's inside you say?
A couple of stuff, a covered notepaper pad using that gorgeous patterned paper (god help me to remember who from) as well as that little tube thing there that fits....read till the end of post! ;)

Also this frame from Ikea which I altered using some GORGEOUS paper from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out (May kit, na-ah not out yet peeps!) but I can tell you it'll be worth every single penny! Anyhoos I can't show you the frame because I altered it for part of my guest designer stint with SFTIO next month. All I can say is that it's pink ( fave colour here) and I wrapped it up so it doesn't colour clash with the rest of the stuff. Inside is a photo of my cousin & me that we took during her last trip here.

So here's what's inside that little tube! It's a cute little pouch thingy that she can use to put lipgloss etc . Handy Dandy huh? I learnt how to make this here. I also made that little square tube thing ;rolled up the pouch & stuffed it in. You'll never guess that is what's inside right?
Still on the topic of sewing, I'm DYING to get my hands on some Amy Butler fabric! I just broke out my A.Butler Lotus paper from K&co & made a card with that. Seriously, someone point out to me where I can get my hands on some on the cheap pwetty pweaase. So far I'm placing my hopes on getting some 'knock-off' versions when I get to Jakarta end of the month, hopefully :)

So here's another one I made. Actually, this was the one i ORIGINALLY intended to give to my cousin. But if you notice, the zipper's on the WRONG side. I only realised my mistake after I zoomed thru the last bit of sewing. And the mistake actually began BEFORE i started sewing (placed the zipper on the shorter side of the fabric. Like, DOH!!
I still think it's cute though, I'm so keeping it for myself haha.
That's all for choo day folks, take care & have a good one ;)

Card Patterns #10

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Welcome to sketch #10 for Card Patterns :) This week's sketch is SO cute!! And presenting Mr Bunny Wabbit *ta-da!*

I used on of the bunnies which I made a few days ago (check out the video too!) The sentiment is from Rubber Soul and the patterned paper is from Papertreyink :)
Our sponsor this week is Scrapbook News & review! I've had some cards published with them ( see left side bar) & they're a great online magazine for inspirational articles & projects. So if you're lucky enough to win their prize this week, you'll be one helluva lucky girl ;)
Also remember as usual, post your take on the sketch using Mr.Linky over at the Card Patterns site & you'll also stand a chance to be the guest designer for the following sketch. Good Luck!
So i've been doing a little sewing lately! Here's my very first project: a tissue holder :) the corner's abit off but i think i really got to pat myself on the back because i could actually use it *lol* I learnt how to make this from here.

I also made this, but I didn't have time to take a pic of it before I gave it to my mum (she was late for her flight to jakarta). Anyhooosss , have a great weekend!! xoxo
