Thanks for ur friendship

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Hi peeps! Here's a card I made with my new fave polka dot embossing folder from Quickutz...it has bigger dots than the swiss dots embossing folder from cuttlebug & I love them both! The sentiment is from Heroart's 'everyday sayings' stamp set. Another one of my faves :)The butterfly image is from this new Heroarts stamp set, which I finally decided to get because I just couldn't resist!! The image is stamped with dark brown Stazon ink onto some Claudine Hellmusth sticky-back canvas, cut out with a sharp pair of fabric scissors & then sponged on some Tim Holtz 'fired brick' & 'spiced marmalade' distress inks. The butterfly is then glimmer misted with 'silver bells'...Love the effect!

The canvas butterfly is mounted on 2 circles (punched out with 1.5" & 1.75"). The smaller vanilla circle has Papertreyink's 'background basic:text style' stamped on it with Tim holtz 'old paper' distress ink.

Feeling greenish...

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

...but not with envy *lol* What with the H1N1 virus going around here in Singapore, even the slightest sneeze/coughing can send the surrounding peeps running for cover. It's funny really, kinda like seeing an magnetic shield appear out of nowhere around the sneezy/coughing person. I sorta had a slight fever the on Monday too (hence no post) & got sent home from work, but I felt fine the next day. Bought thermometers for the peeps at the office too, just to be safe.
Anyhoooss....on the the greenish card!
The stamps on the papertreink vanilla cardstock are from unity stamp co. The green patterned card base is actually a newer Papertreyink cardstock colour (don't recall the name of it) and the patterns are stamped with pti's 'guidelines' set. They carry a guidelines 2 set now as well, I've got both sets and they're so fun to play with!
It's midweek, and only 2 more days to the weekend yeay!
Hope you're having a good day where ever you are, thanks for stopping by :)

Thanks a million

I really love Kim Teasdale's style of cards. Lots of layering and paper toling. So I thought i might just give it a go (totally inspired). It came out pretty cute looking I think, especially with those cute yet really affordable stamps from Inkadinkadoo. Never fails to make me laugh with their silly puns ;) So I coloured in the dude with watercolour pencils, paper-toled the part where he holds the money bag & then 'glossy accented' it. The base scallop is cut out with my Colluzle & the green layer is just cut around with a patterned scissors.
I love the bead accent pinned to the ribbon :) All in all, I had fun although I think it's a little too thick and heavy AND too much work for my liking. ah, and the patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye!
So anyways on another topic, this morning I went for an interview at a recruiting agency, and another one later at 4 pm. Going for interviews are tiring! I wish I had enough passive income for me to just stay home, online shop and play....Then again, who doesn't? *lol*
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Clear thanks + my 1st tote!

Friday, May 8, 2009

Hello peeps! How's your day going? I've been a busy little girl!! tons of design stuff to do as well as other daily errands to run. My car's in the workshop for servicing, the guy called me earlier to tell me that my suspension system on my front right tyre was leaking. I mean, do suspensions leak in the first place?? arrghhh. Anyways, so not going to fix that problem there. Going to bring it in to Malaysia to do it, cheaper that way PLUS I've got a friend there in the car industry so I know they will not be overcharging me HAH.
Here's a card I made some time back, I had some Hambly leftover so i used it for this card which shape I cut out with my Cuttlebug & Labels One Nestabilities dies. I then cut another inward layer to mat the shape with the same dies only 1 size down. There's a video I made on how to do something similar like this if you wanna see :) Here it is.

By the way, I'm loving the papertreyink's 'damask designs' stamp set that comes with that gorgeous sentiment! Truly so classic.
Then I just tied some string around the front of the card and adhered a punched out star & layered on some buttons. There's some faux stitching too, NO way can I really sew something like that using the pink mean sewing machine *lol*
Still on the topic of sewing, I made this tote last night!
Isn't it cute??? The finishing inside isn't too fab but OK for a first try i guess :) And the ugly stitching on the front from attaching the handles? Just cover' em up with some matching ribbon. GLUED ON bwahahaha
Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet, maybe store punches or something along that line teehee. I took inspiration from here & here if you wanna check it out. Do hop around to the 2nd link, Elizabeth's got lotsa great tutorials over there ;)
Have a great day!! :)

Pie, anyone?

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Who loves pie? I do! Fun & quick card using papertreyink's 'my punny valentine' stamp set. What's your fave pie? Mine's apple :) Which brings me to baking; I've been thinking of picking that up too! anyone knows a good recipe for to-die-for pies? I don't have an oven Oven, more like a broiler. It should work, right? With so many things I want to do but the lack of time, all i can do is just simply go buy some lovely confections from the nearby bakery. (instant gratification, yeay!)

On another exciting note, My article's up over at Scrapbooking.com! Can i hear a *woot woot*!!!

Click here to head straight there. And remember to sign up for the subscription, loads of fun ideas & inspiration AND best of all it's free! ;)

April/May's going to be a busy month, what with my guest designer stint over at Scrapbooking from the inside out in May AND another guest designer stint at My stamp box also in May. Not to mention I'll be going away on vacation end of april too. Oh my....Catching my breath while waiting for the goods to arrive before all the craziness starts. So! Look out for more layouts & videos next month ;)

ps: remember this three fold card? just finished editing the video that i'll be incorporating into the Card Patterns sketch this saturday :) Look out for that too.

A hop & a skip ....

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

..from love-themed cards. That said, I might make a couple more since sales are going pretty good & I've yet to play with my PTI 'love songs' set to my hearts content :) I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support & love for my creations, I will always try to deliver more than promised ;) That said, I've got a thank you card to share with you today:

I was totally channeling Lisa Johnson for this card, love her style! [pinch your fingers & say 'OOHMM'] Sometimes when we look at others for inspiration, we try to emulate them and yet always come out with something different calling them our own :) It can also be challenging to stretch our creative boundaries which I find enjoyable! [as long as you don't find yourself sitting there with a blank look & mind]

I'm heading off to Bali for a meeting of sorts, it's only going to be an overnighter so I'll be back to blogging on Saturday just in time for the Card Patterns launch. Remember to pop by CP to join in the fun then, I'll be sharing my take on their sketch too; here as well as over there :)

Have a great day!

card supplies: cardstock: papertreyink, stamps: PTI 'polka dot basics & 'green thumb' , buttons: basic grey & local store, ribbon: Papertreyink berry sorbet , others: white embossing powder, stylised flowers cuttlebug embossing folder

I'm back with a card + news!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Helloooooooooo I'm baaacccck!! I landed late last night, had a great family reunion in Jakarta but I'm happy to be back to the sunny island of Singapore [the one with fantastic internet connection!]
I some good news to share with you today, but first a thank you card I made last week but have yet to post:
This is a small card [3" x 3"] and it was fun to use the scraps I had left over. The cute doggy image is a stamp i picked up from Artfriends some time back, i then coloured it in with Copics.

The background is stamped with papertreyink's 'guidelines' [love it!] & the sentiment is from pti's 'heartfelt basics'. And isn't that doggy bone brad so cute? I can't remember where I got it, it's in my brad stash somehow :)
This card is actually a friend who's a huge dog lover, he got me a gift from his recent trip to Korea [so nice of him].
OK, on to the fantastic news!! I've been selected to be part of the Design Team at CardPatterns as well as a guest designer for mystampbox. Yeay!!!
So look out for more cards using their sketches as well as stamps, I'm truly honoured and happy to join them :)

Playing with new stamp + more new stamps!

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Hello, How's your Sunday going? I made a card yesterday with my new stamp courtesy of Heroarts, what better way to use it for their 'thanks' challenge going on at their blog?
I went for a monochromatic look of just browns, but as u can see i HAD to add a little colour where the sentiment was. :) This card was really simple to do, I just stamped the image with dark brown chalk ink, embossed the bottom half with the polka dot folder from Cuttlebug's 'Just My type', added a ribbon & distressed the edges!
Again, I used my fave 'Mixed messages' for the sentiment. It's a perfect size to fit inside the 3/4" square that i punched out on the front of the card.
Honestly, I was SO tempted to add more stuff to the card but I stopped myself. Sometimes, simpler can be better :)On the other hand, don't you just love it when new stuff arrives?? Especially if it's from Papertrey! Yipppeeee, I'm a happy girl this weekend :)
I took some photos of my scrap area, hopefully I'll get to show them to you soon . Thanks for stopping by, have a great day! :)

card: thank you {heroarts}

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Hey all! How was your Christmas celebration? Can you believe it's just a day to 2009? I have NO idea what I'll be doing for the countdown this year, kinda sad to say goodbye to 2008. Another year older {sigh....}
Anyways, today I have 2 cards to share with you.
Heroarts & Jennifer Mcguire is hosting a "thank u" card challenge over at the HA blog. Lots of great card & scrapbook ideas, go check it out and join in the fun for some great prizes too ! I love the sky blue colour on dark brown, looks simply delicious to me :)
I embossed some vellum CS with my cuttlebug & used "broken china" distress ink to go over the embossed area. Kinda gives it a subtle feel, don't you think? I also matted my tag (cut out the penguin in the centre & attached a felt snowflake with a brad) on vellum CS. I have to tell you that PapertreyInk makes the most wonderful vellum cardstock I've seen in the market so far. You can get them here.
On to the next card!

I haven't been playing with my favourite colour (pink!) for some time now, just had to make this one. I stamped the light pink paper with polkies & embossed Heroart's snowflakes with white embossing powder. I then finished off the look with some sticky diamonds :)
Don't you think the red heart adds a nice accent to the card? I punched a rich red heart out with my EK success heart punch & trimmed one side on a curve to fit in between my sentiments .
I hope you like the cards I've shared with you today, have a great week !

Transparency cards

Saturday, December 20, 2008

Happy Saturday all, I have two cards to share with you today.

I really love the look & uniqueness of using transparencies on my cards so I try to incorporate them when I can. A few essentials you will need when playing with transparencies are glue dots, a good paper trimmer, staz on inks as well as permanent markers.
The card above was inspired by kristina werner's style (link to her blog at side). I like the clean lines & simplicity of it. Playing around my foil, glitter, flock 'thank u' kit here from We R Memory Keepers. Just choose the sentiment/image you want, transfer onto CS & rub! I used some green glitter from the kit & love how it turned out.
The Red House card i stamped using PTI's board & beams, then coloured it in with markers. The set also comes with a good assortment of house related sentiments e.g. 'Just moved' & 'There's no place like home.
I used their 'Mixed messages' stamp set here for the sentiment though, amother one of my faves! :)
Here are 5 of my fave ways to attach transparencies:

1) Glue it down where it is covered up

2) Attach it with brads.

3)Use an eyelet

4)Use staples for a rugged look

5)Sewing/stitching the transparency

Also, Here's a card from Kristina Werner using transparencies:

Have a great weekend!

Feeling Pinkish..

Sunday, November 30, 2008

God Knows how much i love pink, from my decade-old obsession with Hello Kitty stuff to my everyday accessories to the revolving scrap tool holder on my scrap desk.
Only thing is, i realised just how little i tend to use this colour on my cards/layouts. (maybe i see them so much in other times, perhaps? :p)
Just a thought that ran through my mind while i was making this card.
Here's a closer look:

supplies:
paper- Jenni bowlin die cut mini labels & basic grey
chipboard butterfly-maya rd
buttons- basic grey
stamps-Heroarts

I must add that i got the inspiration for this card by this K.Werner's vdo for 2peas.The usage of the thick acetates (saved from some backing off stamp sets, recycle & save the world yeah?) i stamped with my fave Judikins 'circles in circles BG stamp w' white stazon & attached the acetates together with MM eyelets.

Ok, some great sites finds next (shall i call it enabling like JenMcguire? makes it easier). Anyways, I was browsing through Ali e's blog & found a page of great creative links here. You should go check it out, lots of inspiration there :)
Also, i'm thinking of using a different template for this blog. Finding it abit tight on the columns, am looking around for a solid 3 column one that matches my blog banner.
Please let me know if you know where to find one. :) On that note, have a great weekend!

card: you're such a ham!

Monday, November 3, 2008

Hi all! Here's a card i made with the Amuse-saltbox studios clear stamps i got the other day. And i really like using 6x6 paper pads too, so perfect for cards.
I also used them for my Redang Album which you can view from my 'previous works' slide on the bar. They were perfect as the album was a chipboard 6" x 6" one from Maya Road.
