Christmas Mini Album

Monday, February 23, 2009

Hi everyone! It's going to be a longer than usual post today, I'm sharing my finally completed [minus journalling] hand made album. Yes, this was my first attempt at a little book making. Though as it turned out it's totally not my thing [esp. hand sewing] so I ended up punching holes on the spines & tying it up with twine, then covering it with patterned paper. Hah!All papers are from Cosmo cricket, I love their christmas line! So vintage & pretty :) The stickers used on the cover and in this album is also from CC, I found that huge sticker which was Oh so perfect! So on the front of my album I made my own 'photo corner' for the edge of the albums & attached eyelets to create some interest. That date stamp is from Catslife Press, stamped & then die cut out with the Label Trio Nestabilities.
I also incorporated some vellum cardstock inserts in between the pages for journalling. The patterned paper is scrap from Scenic Route's 'sonoma' line the stamp is from Amuse and the vintage metal accent if from Tim Holtz.

Just to show you the first pages with photos as well as the back of the vellum inserts above. Isn't that damask image lovely? The stamp's from Magenta, stamped with papertreyink's vintage cream ink on Kraft cardstock. You'd probably not notice since I'm only sharing several pages from the album, but I arranged the photos according to the number of ppl in them. For e.g. the first page above has 2 ppl, then the next page onwards has increasing number of ppl in the photos.

The botttom border strip is something I made using up all the scraps from making this album & a Fiskars border. I'm happy to say I used up every single last bit of the patterned papers. Save the earth, recycle every bit! Especially when they cost $2 per piece. *grinz*
Above is the ending page, aren't those snow mittens cute?? I bought this in HK for the cheap [it was some fundraiser for the less fortunate] & now i finally got to use them. It looked a tad too 'new' for the whole look of the album so I distressed it with some ink. Behind that and in between the vellum insert is another spot for journalling, a conclusion of sorts.
Ok that about rounds it up for today's post, I'm off to Ikea for a little shop around. I'm looking around for party favour ideas for my bday party, let me know if you have any suggestions! It's going to be a nail party for boys and girls, so any fun ideas???
Thanks for stopping by :)

Fiona, this is lovely! And look at you- you are gorgeous! What a cute idea. I should try this myself. Only I take digi photos and have no photo printer.
