Stampin' Out Alzheimers

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Have all of you heard about the 'Stampin' Out Alzheimers' event going on now as we speak? Read all about it over at Jen Tapler's blog post here. I really think it's for a good cause! All you have to do is donate $5 (of which 100%) is donated to the American Alzheimer's Association & you get lots of digi, template freebies as well as get to win alot of goodies that are sponsored from fabulous peeps/companies like Lauren Meader, Verve Stamps etc.. Here's my take on one of the Verve sketch challenges, the prize is $50 worth of Verve stamps! OK, so this is fun. I mean seriously, this is for a very GOOD cause & what could be better when you could play along have tons of fun & win prizes while doing so??
Read Jen Tapler's story and Please, go donate!

layout: Embrace....

Monday, January 19, 2009

Good morning peeps! Just wanted to share a layout I made with this sketch from Pencillines using 'Embrace' from One Little Word last night. I love challenge blogs, and always try to find the time to play along.
These blogs [two of my faves of which i'm participating in today] often have prompts to help you along with your layouts. Pencil Lines has sketches and One Little word has just that, one word to use on your pages :)
What's your fave challenge blog?I've linked up some of my favourite ones on the left side of the blog, go check them out. And if you know a great one out there, please let me know! :)
On to the layout! I absolutely adore my shihtzu teddy & my bf Tristan. My double 'T's as I like to call them. I had these photos developed & had to scrap them. Love these photos, I may just blow them up & frame them. Altered frame, of course! Remember you can click on the photo to enlarge, but here are a couple of close ups just in case ur lazy :)

The buttons are a mixture of basic grey and some I found at my local craft store. The brown heart bling is from Prima. The orange swirl sticker is from Basic grey's ambrosia line & I'm totally loving that sequin trim from a previous Scarlet Lime kit. The sheer ribbon didn't exactly go where I wanted it to, so i attached a flower brad to hold it in place.
I made a pull-out for my journaling & kept it closed with a photo turner from 7Gypsies. Normally, I would just do my journalling straight on the layout itself but i wanted to write abit more esp. about the word embrace & how it relates to my relationship with these 2 etc.
Thanks for popping by today, do come by tomorrow as I picked up some Copics. Love Copics, can't wait to show you! :)

Philosophy of life - creative therapy #35

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Creative Therapy's challenge #35 this week was to create art about your philosophy of life. The first thing that came to my mind was my favourite quote "Contentment is the Greatest Wealth".
I remember seeing this on a huge poster in front of a buddhist free clinic as i was driving home years back. At that point of my life i was going through some inner struggles about materialism, love and what it all means. This quote brought clarity to me, living life and endlessly striving/fighting for bigger and better things can get pretty tiring. I don't want to live my life like that. People always buy things they don't need to impress people they don't like. There's truth to that. So now i tell myself to slow down, take a look at all the good things around me and BE content. :)
Anyways, seeing that quote made me felt as if God was trying to tell me something. Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous, right? Well, that's another favourite quote of mine that has never failed to amaze me, and that's another story :)
Oh, and the photo of the sunrise is one i took on the plane on the way to Hongkong a couple of weeks back. I love taking photos of clouds and such on planes, always makes me feel like i'm just hitching a ride with God on this little journey called Life.
